Piedmont Softball Association, Inc., is now conducting fall ball season registrations for alt interested area girls bom anytime in 1988 through 2001 (five years old through 18 years old as of January 1, 2007). PSA is a girts’ fast pitch softball league with programs offered for all skill levels. Next registration date is Saturdays, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. All will be held inside Bill Payne Auction Gallery, Rt. 211, Amissville. Returning 2007 Spring will register for $20; girls new to PSA register for $30 and must present original birth certificate for verification at time of registration. On Saturday, August 18, beginning at 7:45 p.m., the Mosby Heritage Area Association’s highly successful interpretive program will be presented in the gardens at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia. Those attending should meet at the parking lot at Morven Park (take W. Market St. exit off Rt. 7 Bypass, go 1 block to stoplight, left on Fairview St and left again at Old Waterford Rd., enter at second gate into Morven Park unto Southern Planter Ln. which leads to parking lot). Stories about life in the during the Civil War will be told by costumed interpreters, the Gray Ghost Interpretive Group, by lantern - light at various locations throughout this old Virginia town. and neuter program

The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League (RAWL), in collaboration with the Shenandoah Valley Spay and Neuter Clinic, sends off the first of regular monthly trips to Harrisonburg. Under this new program, costs of “fixing” pets are reduced dramatically: male cats $45.00, females $50.00; male dogs $55.00, female dogs $65.00. (Small additional charges may apply, depending (Mi the animal’s vaccination history.) Owners register and pay in person in advance at the RAWL shelter in Amissville. First come, first served.
