There was a time, not long ago, when summer brought more than warm weather and high gas prices. It also signaled the start of picnics for the family gatherings. Today’s families, more than ever, need to relax and spend time together. Over the years the kids have grown, married and gone their separate ways. Picnics can be way to • bring eveiyone together.
On Maple Hill Road, Anna Clatterbuck and Mae Racer held the family backyard old-fashioned picnic at their home on Sunday, August 12.
With clear blue skies, one cold not have asked for a better day to get reacquainted with loved ones. Those attending were Melvin and Mary Gochenour, James and Maybell Smoot, Carl and Dottie and Karen Smoot, Eddie Shirley McBee, Mary, Clearance McBee, Hope, Danny, Austin Huff Reba Woodard, Doug and Beverly Exline, Andrew Burke, Helen Smoot, Steve, Jonathan and Jan Clatterbuck and Amanda Dillon.
Eveiyone shared what fun they used to have years back getting together for family gatherings.
Walter Scheib grilled hot dogs and burgers. Doug Exline had those burgers flipping and those hot dogs running for the buns. In the eyes of everyone they were fit for a president. Family fun doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Everyone pitched in and brought a covered dish.
