While funerals are customarily and justifiably mournful affairs, many people are choosing to have their lives celebrated after they die. This celebration is largely initiated by the departed in advance, by making his or her wishes known in a set of instructions. This is one aspect of preplanning that more people are coming to appreciate. Without the deceased giving permission to embark on a decidedly joyous path, the bereaved might find it difficult to celebrate his or her life with wine, food, and song.
