Aug. 25: Community Drum Circle

All are invited to join in creating rhythm and music on Saturday, August 25 from 6-8pm at Sage (in the Rappahannock Wellness Center). Group drumming is fun, easy, and has been proven to reduce stress. It can help stimulate coordination, cooperation, and greater listening skills. All ages welcome. No experience necessary. Aug. 26: Norman Reunion

The Annual Norman Reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 26 at the Rappahannock Park on Route 211 in Washington. A picnic lunch will be served at the Pavilion "Rain or Shine" at 1 p. m. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish and a beverage. Plates, cups, and plastic utensils will be provided. This event only happens once a year, so please bring the whole family for a relaxing afternoon of great food, fun and friendship. For more information call 937-5147.

Aug. 27: Rappahannock Community Housing Partnership

Work continues on bringing affordable housing to Rappahannock. Those interested, plan to attend these ongoing meetings held monthly at The School House in Sperryville. Meeting starts at 7 p.m. Agenda is as follows: Housing Survey Update - both the Rappahannock Public Schools and Sheriffs Department staff have been surveyed and results tallied. We'll share findings of note from both of those survey summaries. Guest speaker to join us from Rappahannock Community Care Coalition (RCCC). The RCCC, an informal group of area churches and community members, has taken note of the ongoing need many local seniors and low income residents have for home repairs. Their group has endeavored to pool community resources and establish a service to assist those local residents in need of home repairs. Community members are invited to attend the August Board Meeting of the Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the RCCA office, located at the Schoolhouse in Sperryville at the corner of Routes 522 & 211. Aug. 29: SCORE announces auditions for Fourteenth Season

The American Children of SCORE (String, Choral, Orff, and Recorder Ensemble) will hold auditions Wednesdays August 29 and September 5 for the children’s music ensemble’s 2007-2008 season. Children in grades 3 through 6 are invited to audition for this unique, musical opportunity. No experience is necessary.

SCORE meets on Wednesday afternoons in Warrenton at the Highland Center for the Arts. The children are trained chorally and instrumentally on Orff instruments, recorders, and optionally on traditional string instruments. The group performs 4 to 5 times during the season. Tuition assistance is available.

Auditions will be held, by appointment, in the Highland Center for the Arts choral room on Wednesdays, August 29 and September 5 between 4 and 6 PM. Auditions last approximately 10 minutes and do not require any special preparations or prior musical experience.
