Back in December, members of the Key Club hosted a “soup for supper” event to raise funds for the Blue Ridge Food Bank, and this week they presented a check for $650 to representatives from that Organization.
Second grader receives chess trophy
On Saturday, Feb. 2, seven Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) students traveled to Fredericksburg to compete in the Scholastic Grade Chess Tournament sponsored by the U.S. Chess Federation. Students representing schools throughout Northern Virginia competed against other children at the same grade level, and Wakefield second grader Bernie Cieplak of Spenyville came home with a fifth place trophy-out of a field of 17.
