through lunch. Fortunately, Ginny’s mother chattered nonstop: Did I like school? Did I do sports? Had I liked camp? How about spinach? Ginny said almost nothing. .
After lunch, I made some excuse for having to stop back early at my mother's house on Long Island before the reunion began. Ginny saw me to the door. Again she extended her hand. “Goodbye, Peter," she said. I was almost out the door when she stopped me. “Oh, I almost forgot," she said. She ran back into the house and came back with a brown paper bag. “This is yours, I think,” she said.
I took the bag and turned to go. “You know, it really was fun,” she said, just before she shut the door behind me.
