I want you to get up right now and write the following numbers by your telephone: 804-924-2231 (to be used from 11 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.) and 804-924-5322 or 804-9245321 (to be used from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.) These are the numbers for the Poison Control Center in Charlottesville. With our - children spending more time inside these cool days, the chances of them accidentally swallowing medicine, cleansers, etc. are greater and we should all be prepared for this tvoe of emereency. Besides having these telephone numbers handy, you should also have a bottle of Syrup of Ipecac, which you can buy without prescription.
A safe first aid procedure is to give one or two glasses of water to dilute the poison. Then call the poison control center or a physician. Be prepared to tell as much as you can about what was J swallowed.
You may then be instructed to induce vomiting using the Syrup of Ipecac. Not only children can have an accident with a poison. With all the pesticides used in our county it is wise for every farmer to have this number handy also.
APPLE CRISP

1 quart sliced apples (peeled and sweetened to taste)
V* cup brown sugar
Vt cup flour
Vj cup oats
V* teaspoon cinnamon
V* teaspoon nutmeg
one third stick butter
Pour the sweetened apples into a pan which measures about 8 inches square. Mix all the ingredients together
