Supervisors
We have recently been informed by the Planning Commission that the Board of Supervisors requested them to outline the limits of the village of Amissville and to rezone the area within those limits from A-l (Agricultural) to RB-1 (Residential-Business) as are the villages of Woodville, Flint Hill, and Sperryville. WHY??
May we bring to your attention that those villages now zoned RB-1 have been for many years, and before any zoning ordinance, platted and laid off in rather small, compact groups of lots, easily defined and containing little or no agricultural land within those limits.
Amissville has 13 businesses all along approximately l‘/a miles of Hwy. 211 and if an RB-1 district is to be laid out and called the village of Amissville, then all of these, in our opinion should be included.
The present proposal, as we understand it, includes only 5 homes and a service garage on the north side of Hwy. 211 and all are west of the intersection with Rte. 642. On the south side of Hwy. 211 and on Rte. 642 it includes the P. O., Grocery store, 11 homes, and 2 churches with their cemeteries. That, to us, does not in any way represent the village of Amissville, nor does it constitute a proper RB-1 zone.
