Wiley informed the group that School Board member Walter Masterson’s term expired in June. “I do not like to deal in personalities,” said Wiley, "but I’ve gained considerable feeling..hhat the people in his area do not appreciate him as their School Board member...It might be well to work at finding out how the people feel...expressed by petition or something,” he suggested.
Returning to the issue of Electoral Board appointments, Mrs. Sherschell maintained it was necessary to let Snead know that “there really are a lot of us with strong feelings” on the make-up of the Electoral Board. She added that it was going to be important to counter balance pressure that the Judge would receive from other factions.
Mrs. Quaintance advised people from each area of the county to approach the Judge with candidates. She told the group that she had recently talked with Snead and suggested a name for his consideration as an Electoral Board appointment. She said she’d been told by Snead that he’d already received quite a few suggestions and “would like to get more.”
