The Rappahannock Supervisors received formal notice at last Thursday’s Board meeting that the courthouse does not conform with Virginia fire safety regulations. Chairman E. P. Luke told the Board that the fire marshal had found several violations of safety standards during an inspection last month.
According to Luke, steps necessary for correction include:
—Construction of an exterior stairway from the upstairs courtroom as remote as possible from the existing interior stairway.
—Installation of an automatic fire protection sprinklef system in the furnace room directly under the interior stairway.
—Resurvey of the courthouse electrical system.
—Adjustments in the furnace system for the lockup to allow more air for proper combustion.
School Meeting
The regular meeting of the Rappahannock School Board was inadvertently omitted from the December schedule of events printed in last week’s Rappahannock News. The School Board will meet on December 13 at 7:30 in the Elementary School library.
