By Nancy secrist Extension Agent It’s time to spruce up the n, house and bake for Christmas. Here is a fantastic ' mixture for cleaning finger prints off walls and woodwork. Combine V* cup ammonia, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 quart hot water. No need to rinse. The books of Rappahannock again are very generous in sharing their favorite recipes with us. Following are several delicious fruit and nut bar recipes. Cherry-Coconut Ban Miss Annie Miller Almond Washington, Va. 1 cup Gold Medal flour Vi cup butter or margarine 3 tablespoons confectioner sugar 2 eggs, sightly beaten 1 cup granulated sugar. V* cup flour Vi teaspoon baking powder V«teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla 3/« cup chopped nuts Vi cup coconut Vi cup quartered maraschino cherries Heat oven to 350 degrees. Measure flour by dipping or sifting. With hands mix 1 cup flour, margarine or butter and confectioner sugar until smooth. Spread then with fingers in ungreased square 8”x8”x2” pan. Bake about 20 to 25 minutes until' lightly brown. Stir rest of ingredients into eggs. Spread over top of baked pastry. Bake 20 to 25 minutes longer. Cool and cut into bars. Makes 18 bars. Can double recipe and bake in a 9”xl3”x3” pan.
