Following placement testing, Mrs. Hobson was able to evaluate where each of her 32 students stood. She filled in charts that list a page of math skills. As students achieve the required 100 per cent score in mastering each successive skill, Mrs. Hobson puts a check and a date on the chart.
Dally Lesson nan For Each
She consults the charts and her home-made reference book in preparing daily lesson plans for each of her students. The reference book numbers all the math skills addressed in the lab program and next to the skill, lists related games and experiments.
The hours spent in putting together the reference book pay off daily as Mrs. Hobson prepares individual lesson plans. She is able to look up a student’s personal chart, find the child’s skill level and turn to her reference book for lessons that relate directly to the particular skill. Then the assignment is written on a card and stuck into the child’s slot on the bulletin board.
