Arundel Newspaper Writer At the close of a public hearing last Wednesday that was marred by personal attacks and insults, the Rappahannock Planners voted unanimously to recommend denial of a rezoning request from Dorothy Davis. The Supervisors' public hearing on Thursday for the same rezoning was quieter and Chairman E. P. Luke announced that the Board would delay its decision until April 20th’s special budget meeting.
About 20 citizens attended the Planners’ hearing on Mrs. Davis’ request to rezone three and a half acres outside Washington from agriculture to commercial. In the application, she proposed to use the existing buildings on the property for sale, repair and refinishing of antiques, sale of arts and crafts, farmer’s market and other related or compatible uses.
