Engagement
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Frank Dowd, of Charlotte, N.C., announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Roddey, to Edward lenner Wood, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dalziel Wood, of Atlanta, Ga.
Miss Dowd attended Hollins College and was graduated from the University of North Carolina. She will receive a Masters degree in May from N. C. State University. Mr. Wood is a graduate of Episcopal High School and the University of North Carolina. In Atlanta he is a member of the Nine O’Clocks and the Piedmont Driving Club and is employed by the Trust Company Bank.
Mr. Wood is the grandson of Clarence Jackson Miller Jr. and the late Mrs. Miller, of Washington, Virginia.
Bridge Hostess
Mrs. W. H. Cordle entertained at bridge at her home near Sperryville Friday evening.
Her guests included Mrs. E. N. Montague, Mrs. T. J. Pillar, Mrs. Brown Miller, Mrs. Mary Quaintance, Mrs. R. E. Wood, Mrs. C. E. Johnson Jr., Mrs. Roy L. Reeve, Mrs. R. E. Thompsen, Mrs. I. R. Kilby, Mrs. E. A. McNear, Mrs. Hugh Chrisman and Mrs. H. C. Sutherland.
Prize winners were Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Reeve and Mrs. Kilby.
