total of $157.25. A 550 hp siren was purchased for $550; paid for as money became available. For the twenty years the firehouse remained there, Ed and Charlotte Scott took the emergency calls and activated the siren.

Membership dues of $1 per year per member were initiated in April of 1953. have remained and continue as current dues. The completed fire house was insurer! for $8,000 in July of 1953.

The new firehouse was officially dedicated June 17. 1953 with radio personality, Connie B. Gay and Jimmy Dean and his band entertaining. “After playing at Amissville, Jimmy Dean went on to fame and fortune." said Mrs. Priest.
