Raymond Sutphin of Route 729 near Flint Hill sustained a broken leg and is in Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton as a result of a traffic accident on Route 211 Friday afternoon. According to Trooper R. A. Baines, Sutphin on a farm tractor was struck by a Dodge van driven by Charles Fields of Alexandria.
The officer's investigation showed Sutphin traveling east on the highway on a 1976 Deutz tractor when the van struck the rear of the tractor and knocked it off the road into an embankment. The tractor overturned and threw Sutphin off.
The van continued out of control, striking the guard rail and stopping on the eastbound shoulder. The van was totaled, and Fields suffered face lacerations and a possible chest injury, according to Baines.
