I any person to transport, f possess or carry a loaded shotgun or a loaded rifle in any vehicle on any public f street, road, or highway , within Rappahannock County, Virginia. Any person violating the provisions of this or i finance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00). This ordinance shall not apply to duly authorized law-enfordement officers or military personnel in the performance of their lawful duties, nor to any person who reasonably believes that a loaded rifle or shotgun is necessary for his personal safety in the course of his employment or business.

GUN ORDINANCE PROPOSED FOR ADOPTION BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RAP PAHANNOCK COUNTY, VIRGINIA, AT ITS REGULAR MEETING ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1978, COMMENCING AT 10:00 A.M. An ordinance banning the carrying or possessing a firearm on any part of a public highway within Rappahannock County, Virginia.

BE IT ORDAINED and enacted by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Rappahannock, Virginia, under the authority of Section 18.2-287 of the Code of Virginia (1950 as amended 1975) that it is unlawful for any person to carry or have In his possession while on any part of a public highway within Rap pahannock County, Virginia, a loaded firearm when such person is not authorized to hunt on the private property on both sides of the highway along which he is standing or walking. Any person violating the provisions of this or dinance shall be punished by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00). This or dinance shall not apply to persons carrying loaded firearms in moving vehicles, nor to persons acting at the time In defense of persons or property, nor to duly authorized law-enforcement
