The State Department of Welfare announced last week that it is undertaking an aggressive program to ensure that Virginia residents take advantage of new simplified application procedures in the Food Stamp Program that went into effect March 1.
Many of the new rules were designed to simplify the food stamp application process for all households and to speed up the delivery of benefits to needy applicants.
“We are concerned that every person in Virginia be given an opportunity to apply for the Food Stamp Program and that a fair and Equitable evaluation of their potential eligibility be made,” Welfare Commissioner William L. Lukhard said.
