“With the skyrocketing cost of hardback books—average retail book cost in 1969 was $8.77—today it’s $18.03,” said Librarian Mrs. Penny Keesey, "Use of the Library is constantly growing. All during the school year, teachers and school librarians take out dozens of books at a time for students who cannot get to the Library themselves. A third of our circulation of some 10,000 books a year is to children and students. People just can’t go out and buy books as they used to...now they take a trip to the Library.” Mrs. Keesey said.
