Assembly
Beverly Lawrence of Amissville was among the eight hundred high school students in Virginia who participated in the 32nd Model General Assembly held April 19-21 in Richmond. The model assembly is sponsored by the Virginia Y.M.C.A.
Beverly was seated in the House of Delegates and served on the Counties, Cities and Town committee. Guest speakers for the assembly were Gov. John Dalton and Lieutenant Governor Charles Robb.
Lifesaving
Sets of Military Anti-Shock Trousers (MAST), a livesaving device, have been presented to the Cedar Run and The Plains Rescue Squads in Fauquier, and to Amissville, Flint Hill, Sperryville and Washington in Rappahannock.
Funds to purchase the equipment were awarded to the Virginia Bureau of Emergency Medical Services by the Federal Highway and Transportation Safety Administration.
