A special program on home safety will be sponsored by the Rappahannock Extension Homemakers on Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. in the elementary school. Participants may register for any of three half-hour mini courses, choosing from six that will be offered.
Speakers and classes include Sheriff W. A. Buntin on home security; Paul Poling from the Amissville Fire Department on home fire safety; Nancy Cooley from the Fairfax Parks and Recreation Authority on poison control in medicines and poisonous plants; Dawn Fisher, registered nurse from the Rappahannock Clinic, on emergency first aid; Frank Huff and Kenny Pullen from the Flint Hill Fire and Rescue Squad on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the Heimlach Maneuver for removing material caught in the throat; and C. E. Smoot on lawn mower safety.
