Orant would cover the expense of staff assistance from PD 9 and from county employees as well as other items involved in, preparing a comprehensive plan such as printing and reproduction of the finished product.
State law requires such a land-use plan by July 1, 1980. The comprehensive plan is not a legal document but a policy guide.
The county’s board of supervisors has final approval, after public hearings, of the plan to be drafted by Rappahannock's planning commission.
John B. Capelle, executive director of PD 9, said before PD 9’s monthly meeting that he has been working with Rappahannock Planning Commission at no cost to the county during the past five months.
Capelle said the commissioners have this December as a tentative “target date” to present a draft of the plan to the supervisors. Rappahannock’s planners have been meeting once a month with Capelle to work on the plan.
