NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC The Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries at a meeting held In Richmond, Virginia, on February 23, 1979, adopted the following amended or new regulations pursuant to Sections 29-125, 29-126 and 29127 of the Code of Virginia, to become effective July 1,1979.
CHAPTER 23.
Fishing Generally. R23-6. In accordance with i authority conferred by S 29-11 of the Code of Virginia, the Commission finds and declares the following species to be predatory or undesirable within the meaning and Intent of those terms as used In S 29158 of the Code, in that their introduction into the State will be detrimental to the native fish resources of Virginia: Piranha (any of the genus Serrasalmus, Rooseveltiella, Pygocentrus), walking catfish (any of genus Clarias), cichlid (Texas) perch (Chichlasoma cyanoguttatum) or grass carp (any of genus Ctenopharyngodon).
It shall be unlawful, pursuant to S 29-158 of the Code, to import, cause to be imported, buy, sell or offer for sale or liberate within the State any of the above-named species unless a permit therefore is first obtained from the Commission.
R23-6.1. It shall be unlawful to stock any fish species into any State-owned Impoundment, or any impoundment under the control of the Commission, without first obtaining a permit to do so from the Commission.
