It was hit or miss finding the Chester Gap fire hall Monday night in pea soup fog that blanketed the mountain top. Judging by the number of local residents who showed up for the planning commission’s community in-put meeting on Rappahannock’s first comprehensive plan, most of the folks from Chester Gap mjssed.
Only two local residents in addition to Wakefield District supervisor Hubert Gilkey and his wife Maybelle attended the session, first of six scheduled by the planning commission. With such a tiny audience, however, there were plenty of copies of the comprehensive plan available to leaf through.
Commission chairman H. S. Barksdale expressed disappointment in the small turn out, noting that the plan, required by state law to be adopted by July 1, will affect everyone in the county
