In addition to the licensing changes authorized by the last session of the General Assembly, the legislature also passed a bill that allows locality to exempt from local property taxes all equipment used in the manufacturing of alcohol from farm products, Green reported.

In addition to allowing tax write-offs her alternative energy production, the federal government has some grants and low-cost loans available for farmers involved in alcohol production, according to Green.
