The 14th annual Oatlands Point-To-Point will be held on Sunday at the historic Oatlands estate south of Leesburg with an eight-race card featuring the four-mile William Corcoran Eustis Cup over timber.
The Oatlands race committee has boosted the 1980 Eustis Cup purse to $2,000, doubling the total offered several years ago when this became the first race on the spring point-topoint horse racing circuit to offer a purse. Although a fledgling in the traditionsteeped sport of timber racing, the Eustis Cup, at age 14, has established itself as the major test for horses headed into the sanctioned racing season and counts among its past winners some of the finest timber horses of the last decade and a half.
