The Rappahannock Hunt Point-to-Point races postponed because of to bad weather, are set to begin with a pair race at 11 a.m. Sunday at James W. Fletcher’s picturesque Thornton Hill Farm on Rt. 522, l‘/i miles south of Sperryville. Race day will find the fields and wooded hills of Rappahannock in their most beautiful spring colors.
As the grand finale of the northern Virginia point-topoint circuit, this year’s Rappahannock races will likely decide the trophy in at least two contests.
Chick Owens and his Cultivating, entered in .the owner-rider hurdle race, lead with 18 points in the First Colony series. Randy Waterman’s Nasty Fella follows with 15 points. Charles Ross’ Sagitta, 13 points, will also be running in the owner-rider race which has nine entries.
The two and a half mile timber race, the Ben Venue, has attracted Chick Owens’ High Peak, David Semmes' No Answer who won last Saturday at Fairfax and now has 13 points, and Roy Graham’s Boca Bird with 15 points. The Ben Venue is the ninth race on the card and will decide the final outcome of the Seven Corners series.
