Tall Texans
While Janet and Wendy are in Canada and points north, Debbie Helmer will hit the trail to San Antonio, Texas, to discover ‘‘Why Texans Stand So Tall.” With a home base at Incarnate Word College, she’ll investigate folk cultures, take a trip to the home of former President Lyndon Johnson, eat dinner on a barge and tour a 900,000 acre exotic animal ranch on horseback. In between, she’ll join in entertainment activities, including folk dancing and Texas barbeque cook-outs.
Shannon Streagle will journey to Connecticut for her international ‘‘Almost Anything Goes” adventure. Girl Scouts from all over the world, bringing their national costumes and favorite recipes, will jpin her for a camping outing that's been two years in the planning.
