Set For May
Works by master craftspeople will be on display at the 8th annual juried craft fair of the Virginia Crafts Council in Charlottesville on May 2, 3 and 4.
The 76 craftspeople who have been selected to exhibit and sell their work at the show have studios in Virginia and seven other states. Their displays will feature a variety of pottery, leather, wooden games and furniture, farm tools, carved wooden birds, handmade wearables, woven rugs, batik hangings, patchwork pillows and richly colored quiits, hand crafted jewelry, carved lucite, split oak baskets, stained glass, ornamental ironwork, broomcraft and bookbinding.
Exhibitors include No! Putnam, blacksmith, and potter Ann Friend Clark from Madison, former members of the Rush River Craft Co-op in Washington.
Four feature areas at the fair will highlight craft work and design. Vistors can watch craftspeople at work in the demonstration area where different crafts will be featured each half-hour.
For a small fee, children from age two to ten may participate in a supervised children’s art and craft area where they will make a takehome project and halp paint a mural. In addition, this year’s fair will offer musical entertainment on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.
The fair will be held in the Cage at University Hall in Charlottesville. Hobrs will be 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. May 2, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. May 3 and noon - 5 p.m. May 4. Admission is SI.75 for adults, SI for students and senior citizens, children under 12 free.
