Solar Exhibit
Shenandoah National Park has a special solar exhibit at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center. Erected in celebration of Earth Day, a nationwide observance of the fragility and importance of natural environment, the exhibit shows how solar energy powers the planet.
According to superintendent Robert Jacobsen, the solar exhibit is part of the park's continuing effort to bring about public awareness of environmental concerns an of the park’s special emphasis on energy conservation.
The exhibit will be on display at the visitor center, Mile 4.6 on the Skylipe Drive, for several months. Graphic illustrations and informative text explain concepts of earth as a starpowered planet and show the relationships between, the sun and natural energy systems of Shenandoah National Park.
Dickey Ridge Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
