Sheriff W. A. Buntin is seeking damages totalling $250,000 plus attorney’s fees in a suit filed in federal district court on June 30 against the Virginia Supplemental Retirement System’s Board of Trustees.
In the complaint, Buntin alleges that the trustees discriminated against him on the basis of age by refusing to allow his participation in the Virginia Supplemental Retirement System which they administer.
In addition, he is seeking reinstatement of his retirement benefits from the State Police Officers’ Retirement System, also administered by the same trustees.
