The threat of a shutdown of Vint Hill Farms Station, an Army installtion near Warrenton, has been lifted, according to Seventh District Congressman J. Kennth Robinson.
"I have received assurance from high authority in the Department of Defense that the Army will not be required to move forward with previously announced plans to phase down this installation and declare it surplus." Robinson said in a statement issued by his Washington office.
“On the basis of what I have been told, I believe the Warrenton area can be reassured that Vint Hill Farms Station will continue to operate indefinitely without significant reduction in personnel,” he added.
Vint Hill now houses intelligence-related and electronics activities.
Robinson, who had been working against recurring proposals to clase the base over the past several years, had contended that shifting away the activities now there
