Barn Burns
A large, old barn on the John Jenkins farm at Viewtown was struck by lightning Tuesday afternoon and was completely destroyed. According to Mr. Jenkins, the barn was an old log structure 75 or 100 years old and was chock full of mowers, electrical supplies and other farm items, plus a little old hay.
Jenkins was at the Viewtown store when the fire occurred. He said one tremendous bolt apparently ignited the building and in minutes it was entirely engulfed in flames. “No one was hurt, that's the main thing," said Jenkins.
Fire apparatus responded but there was nothing to be done for the barn.
