Going against 25 teams from Front Royal, Luray, Page, Rappahannock and Harrisonburg, the Rebels battled their way to first place. And it was some fight, according to Foster.
In one contest that went 13 innings, the Rebels held their opponents scoreless for 11 innings after the game was tied in the bottom of the second.
“When we played them later for the championship, the umpire said that if the score was tied at seven innings (the end of a standard game), he was going to flip a coin for the winner,” Foster said, grinning widely.
