The remains of an historic mill on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River will be the focus of the Thunderbird Museum's one-week Archeological Field School during the week of August 17.
The mill and a house were among the structures destroyed by a large flood more than 100 years ago on what is now the grounds of the Thunderbird Museum A Archeological Park.
Interested individuals are invited to register for the oneweek field school. The weekly fee for instruction and equipment is $100. Participants may camp at the Museum or commute each day for the field work. They will learn excavation techniques, laboratory procedures and be introduced to the prehistory and early history of the area.
