in-kind labor for the thousands of dollars which go uncollected each year. Several governmental and non-profit agencies have already expressed an interest in the diversionary program, said Program Coordinator Dean Irvine, who is looking to recruit more.
Mr. Irvine is presently the director of the District Nine Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program which will be merged with Battlefield Diversionary Programs under an umbrella agency known as R appahannock-Rapid an Division of Court Services.
"The intent of the program is not to knock people out of jobs, "Mr. Irvine said. “It’s to save localities labor time from their own work force. Any agency that wants to save a dollar and has been using its own employees in odd jobs or hiring contract people can use this program."
