For the U. S., the July 1 winter wheat production forecast is a record high 2.12 billion bushels, one percent more than the previous record high set last year.
Virginia’s production is forecast at 13.7 million bushels, 20 percent less than in 1981. In the U. S., old crop wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 1982 totaled 1.16 billion bushels, 17 percent and 28 percent larger, respectively, than 1981 and 1980.
