Guilford explained that his mother was trying to buy five acres hack in the hollow behind Foster Brothers packing house. The land belongs to Mrs. Cooney Jones, who wants to sell a five acre piece, according to Guilford. But her husband, Clarke, has a life estate in the 102 acre tract and is opposed to the transaction, he added, acknowledging that there may be problems in securing a clear title.
Guilford said that Mrs. Jones once planned to build a house herself on the five acres and so the Health Department has alreadyissued a septic permit for a residence there.
Guilford told the planning commissionrs that he’s known Mrs. Jones for 33 years. She's 81 years old now and needs someone close by to assist with everyday chores (Continued on Page 3)
