We have a number of dedicated public servants in this county, both professional and volunteer, to whom we too seldom show our appreciation. At this Christmas and year-end season the two of us would like to call special attention to one group whose contribution to the quality of life in Rappahannock may not always be recognized by those who benefit from it.
We are speaking of the members of what would be called in most jurisdictions the County Parks Board. Here, we understand, it is called the Board of Directors of the Recreation Association. As the nearest neighbors of the new Rappahannock County Park, which replaced the woefully underutilized Rappahannock County Recreation Center, we may be in a unique position to appreciate just how much the new basketball court, the new tennis courts, the new playground equipment, the new (but not yet fully completed) exercisejogging trail, the alreadyexisting horseshoe courts and picnic building, and the new garbage cant have been enjoyed during the past summer ”id Indian summer.
