Konick responded that the county may already be involved in maintenance of private streets from the angle of providing for general health and safety and specifically for ensuring that fire fighting vehicles have access.
Commissioner Charles Estes suggested that the resident highway engineer be included in discussion of road regulations.
“That’s an excellent idea...We should ask Mr. Askew for his recommendations,” agreed Miller.
“There ought to be consideration of how this (allowing large lot subdivisions with private streets) is going to affect everything,” Konick said, indicating that all developments may not be as acceptable as Wiltshire Turner Ltd.’s proposed subdivision. “Once it’s done, you could open a lot of different things in lots of different places,” he warned.
