Here are some good ways to cut down on your gas and electric bills.

Use your dishwasher only when it’s full. And after the final rinse cycle, turn it off and open the door to let the dishes airdry.

If your kitchen lighting is incandescent, consider replacing it with fluorescent lights. One 40watt fluorescent tube provides more light than three 60-watt incandescent bulbs. That alone can save almost $1 per month off your electric bill.

If you have an air conditioner, set the thermostat no lower than 78 to 80 degrees. If this setting is. say six degrees higher than the one you used last summer, your cooling costs should go down about 47 percent.
