Tuesday’s presentation is the school board's latest attempt to come to grips with the index salary concept, strongly supported by the administration and discussed in various forms for years. The committee’s study is the most thorough to date and both administrators and board members seemed determined to bring it to a vote at the January meeting. Chairman Beverly Massie asked for a motion on the new scale to be put to a vote next month. The board wrestled with the wording of the motion for well over an hour, Anally agreeing to this wording; “The school board approves the adoption of an index pay scale to govern compensation of all employees for the 1983-84 school year.”
