Wendy Helmer has just finished her first year at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. and this summer she will be a Waterfront Counselor at the Girl Scout Camp Kittamaqund in Burgess, Va. She’ll be teaching swimming lessons as well as being a lifeguard. Her sister, Debbie Helmer, will also be a Waterfront Counselor for the Girl Scouts but she’ll be working at Camp Mary Atkinson in Selma, North Carolina. Debbie will be attending Greensboro College in North Carolina during the fall. Debbie and Wendy are the daughters of Richard and Pat Helmer.
Debbie Helmer graduated from Rappahannock County High School this year and is honored to be in the 1983-84 book, “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” which is the leading student recognition publication in the nation celebrating outstanding students for their positive achievements in academics, athletics, school and community service. Congratulations Debbie! Both sets of grandparents visited the Helmers for a week to celebrate the graduation. They are Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Helmer of St. Johnsville,
