Apple Butter Making Contest
The 1984 Virginia Championship Apple Butter Making Contest will be held on Saturday, September 15, at the Winchester Recreation Park in Winchester. The seventh annual contest is held in conjunction with the Rotary Club’s “Apple Harvest Festival” scheduled for September 15th-16th.
The contest is open to any individual or group who makes apple butter. Apple butter must be made on the site and will be judged on Sunday, September 16th.
The event is sponsored by the Frederick County Extension Service, Second Floor, Frederick County Courthouse, Winchester, VA 22601. For more information, call 703-662-8721.
Class of’74 Deadline Extended
Members of Rappahannock High’s Class of ”74 can purchase tickets to their 10-year class reunion through August 31.
Tickets for the Saturday, September 29 event at Panorama are $20 per person.

Open Gym Program
A drop-in basketball program will be operating on Sunday evenings only at Fauquier High School in Warrenton beginning September 9. The main gym will be open from 6-9 p.m. every Sunday September 9 through October 28. The cost to participate is $1.00 per person per night, no spectators permitted. Participants are asked to bring gymnasium style shoes, no smoking in gym, and no food or drinks permitted in the gym.

Class reunion for Rappahannock graduates with the class of 1979 is scheduled for Saturday, September 22 at the Rappahannock Park in Washington.

The relatives and friends of the descendants of the lath George Washington and Nancy Bolen Beahm will have a reunion on Sunday, September 2 at the Rappahannock Park beginning at 8a.m.
“Come, bring a covered dish and a beverage and eiyoy the day,” said a group spokesperson.
