Twenty-one children who completed the Rappahannock County Library's “Read for the Gold” summer program received ribbons and certificates at the library August 15. Fiftynine children participated in the program.
“Many worked hard, but due to vacations, didn’t complete (the program),” Pat Helmer, assistant librarian, said. Helmer presented the awards on her last day of work at the library.
Special awards went to:
• Nathan Flincham, a preschooler who read all the books himself. Nathan turned 5 August 13. His parents are Roger and Debby Flincham.
• Tanya Runion, who received special honors for doing “extras,” among them, her own poem titled “Books.”
