An open invitation is extended to the public to participate in hikes sponsored by the Wakefield Outings Club. The club was organized in 1980 by its present director, Hunt Harris, with an underlying purpose to “promote an awareness of the hiking and camping opportunities available in the immediate geographical vicinity, and to provide its participants with limited basic instruction in outdoor skills, local history and folklore.”
The club now meets at least once a month, weather permitting, any anyone interested in participating is welcome to join. Children 12 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants should bring a packed lunch, comfortable yet rugged clothing, and any additional items such as binoculars, backpack, compass, etc. that they are willing to be responsible for.
