Divided into thirds to span the three years, the percentage of increase the Association asked for above Estabrook’s proposal was 2 1/2 percent. “A 13.5 percent salary increase to base is our follow-up proposal,” Bomberger said.
Massie thanked all of the people present for taking the time to attend the meeting and voice their concerns. “We appreciate the support, and ask for your continued support when we make our proposal to the Board of Supervisors,” Massie said.
Regular Meeting
The School Board took up their regular meeting agenda following the time allowed for public input into the budget.
The Board approved a request from Peggy and Arthur Smith, owners of the Sperryville Antique Market, for a fund raising event to be allowed. The Smiths plan to sponsor the event to benefit the athletic program at the high school.
The fund raiser will involve Peter Grover, a professional appraiser from Washington, D.C., who will appraise items for a cost of $6 an item. The Smiths will then donate $5 of every $6 earned to the high school. The event has been scheduled for August 18 from 10a.m. to 4 p.m.
Estabrook reported that he has obtained vehicle insurance coverage for the school system at a cost of $2,675 with the Eerie Insurance Exchange. There has been no change in coverage.
