If you brought a soil sample in to the Extension office to be tested in January or February and it came back with a pH that was considerably lower than what you think it should be, you are probably right in your assumption.
The pH tester at VPI malfunctioned this winter. You need to adjust your pH upwards .5 pH units which will result in about a one ton/acre decrease in lime recommendation (or 50 lbs./1,000sq. ft.).
I must apologize for this error and hope it has not caused anyone any great problems. If you have any questions about your lime or fertilizer recommendations, please call me at 6753619.
