RICHMOND (AP) — Virginia’s 1985 wheat harvest will be the lowest in eight years and the state’s peach crop will be the smallest on record, says the Virginia Crop Reporting Service.

“The weather’s been hard on farmers,” Red Riley, assistant director of the service, said last week in issuing the latest crop report.

Both peaches and wheat fell victims to weather — a cold winter for the peaches and a dry spring for wheat.
