The snack bar at the Sperryville Antique Market is not what it used to be. It used to be a pretty ordinary runof-the-mill snack bar (sorry about that, Peggy and Arthur).
Peggy and Arthur Smith own and operate the Sperryville Antique Market. Both are kept busy with the many facets of running an antique business. Yet, for a long while they tried to serve food as well. It became too much for them.
The Smiths did not give up on the idea of serving food. They just decided to have someone else do the serving. So they arranged to have John and Mary DeFries, proprietors of the Little Italian Bakery in Culpeper, take over the snack bar. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The arrangement is not permanent, however. The DeFries opened their Bakery-Deli-Subshop at the Antique Market in May and will close it at the end of October.
After that, the DeFries hope to open a permanent Little Italian Bakery somewhere in Sperryville. They believe a market exists in Rappahannock County for their unique fare, which in
